Kid Spent US$1,400 on Farmville Within 2 Weeks

Parents’ alert! A 12 years old UK boy spent US$1,400 using his own money, plus credit card from his parents. And credit card company has no way to detect this “abnormality” as the money is spent on Facebook credits. I doubt Zynga (Farmville creator) or the credit card will relent and return the money.

Those who had tried Farmville will know that it is difficult to stop. It is like an addiction. Everyday, you would want to up your level or beat your neighbors, earn more money to buy more stuffs. However, when you succumb to buying those virtual credits, I guess there is no turning back.

According to the report,

In the popular casual Facebook game, players can spend real money to accrue virtual currency and items. It’s a business that’s booming enough to garner the game’s developer Zynga an estimated valuation as high as $5 billion.

So, what is your take on this Farmville game (or any other games) on Facebook?
