After Google announced that they may unfilter search engine results in China, the iconic Tank Man picture at Tiananmen appeared at Google.cn website. This may be one way the Google wanted to show China how they can defy China censorship.

The picture of a Chinese man who boldly stood in front of a line of tanks during the 1989 crack down on pro-democracy protests made headlines around the world. It is banned in China where the event is still hugely sensitive. A search for the image on Google.cn displayed the photo immediately, while the image did not come up on Baidu.com, another popular Chinese search engine.

I wonder how China will react (or have they reacted?) on this matter. The whole matter started when someone hacked into Google’s Gmail to collect information on some activists. This sparked Google to announce that they may want to stop the filtering of content on their search engine, and worst case, out of the scene in China.
