(Singapore, 30 July 2009) – Sony Singapore unveils its new mini notebook, the VAIO W series, offering consumers easy portability and multimedia and web experiences wherever they are. Beautifully rounded and compact, the VAIO W series is perfect for use as a secondary notebook for surfing the web, checking e-mails, and social networking. Featuring a high-resolution (1366 x 768) and isolation keyboard, the VAIO W series optimises multimedia and web experiences for users at any place and time.

An ideal web surfing companion
Enabled with Wi-Fi connectivity, the VAIO W series is an ideal companion for surfing the web and catching up with friends virtually. Built with a carefully designed touchpad and mouse keys, as well as well-isolated, springy and responsive keys, the VAIO W series is extremely comfortable for typing even after many instant messages and emails. Additionally, the mini notebook has a built-in webcam and microphone, allowing users to conveniently video chat with family, friends and colleagues.
An ideal multimedia companion
Watching YouTube® videos on the VAIO W series’ is also an enjoyable experience with its 16:9 widescreen movie ratio. The high-resolution (1366 x 768), 10.1-inch wide, LED backlit display further complements users multitasking lifestyle by allowing them to comfortably view web pages while having a side window for chatting and widgets.
Bundled with exclusive VAIO Media plus software, the VAIO W series is able to provide easy access and management of photos and music files. Users can simply transfer photos from a digital camera or music from an MP3 player, to and from the VAIO W series, via the unit’s two convenient USB ports. Providing ample storage for songs, photos, and videos, a roomy 160GB hard drive is also included in the VAIO W series so users can save spare file copies to share with friends. Enabling easy and familiar operation, the VAIO W series comes pre-installed with Microsoft® Windows XP Home Edition operating system.
A stylish companion to carry around
Weighing only 1.19kg including the battery, the VAIO W series is light enough for both girls and guys to carry around. With its head-turning style and soft rounded edges, users will want to be seen with this stylish mini notebook that catches others’ attention easily. Available in three delicious colours of white, pink, and brown, the interior of the mini notebook is also lined with a subtle shade that accentuates and complements the exterior hue finishes. Tactile and visually appealing, the VAIO is designed with a dimpled palm rest that resists stains and finger prints, and a patterned touchpad that is smooth to touch. In addition, users who appreciate colour coordination will be pleased to know that matching mouse, pouches, and other accessories are available with the VAIO W series.

Pre-sales promotion and availability
The new VAIO W series mini notebook will retail at S$899.00 inclusive of GST and be launched in Singapore from mid August 2009. Pre-sales promotion offering the mini notebook with a free colour coordinated carrying pouch (worth S$49.00) is available from now until 12 August 2009, at Sony Style stores (except Changi Airport Terminal 3), Sony Centres and VAIO Pro Shops.
