Calling all Singapore students and young scientists: Cash prizes for winning submissions


Singapore – 30 July 2009 –
Following yesterday’s announcement of IT Security for the Next Generation’ student conference, Kaspersky Lab has new exciting information about its innovative programme:

Phase I:

Top three research papers submitted from each country by 15 September 2009, will each receive US$1000 cash from Kaspersky Lab’s CEO, Eugene Kaspersky, when he visits the region in October 2009.

Phase II:

The three winners from each country will then move on to the next level, competing with fellow Asians in the South East Asia Cup.  The three best papers in the region will be announced on 15 November 2009 and receive US$1500 cash each.

Phase III:

The three winners of the South East Asia Cup will then get an opportunity to represent South East Asia during the International Conference in April 2010 – including an all-expenses paid trip to Russia, the homeland of Kaspersky Lab.  The specific place and date are yet to be determined.

Bachelor degree students from universities, institutes of higher education and graduate schools are welcome to apply.  Participation in the programme can either be individual or as a group.  Interested parties are required to register online via http://www.kaspersky.com.sg/it_security_conference_about.htm before 15 August 2009 to qualify their participation.

Those wishing to participate should prepare and send their research on one of the following topics to the organising committee by 15 September 2009:

  • Future ICT-related problems
  • Psychology of cybercrime
  • Economic structure of cybercrime
  • Online commerce of e-crime
  • Law and security: e.g. intellectual property (rights and innovation, rights transfer, etc.)
  • Impact, threats and incidents caused by botnets
  • Measuring malware and spam
