I came across this free software in XDA forum. It is called Auto Call Recording. As the name implies, it automatically records your call when someone call in or you dial out. Recently, I also blogged about another software that can remote access another phone SMSes. Do you think these software are ethical?

The program itself is simple and easy to install. Just a note that you will need .Net Compact Framework 3.5 to get it to work.
There are just a handful of settings that you can change in the software. I chose the standard. However, I do have people who installed the software having their phone become very slow. I guess it is due to the fact that older phone may not have enough memory to run smoothly.

According to the XDA forum, the developer has mentioned that these are the phones that are tested OK.
Samsung Omnia, Sony Ericsson X1, HTC Kaiser, HTC Diamond, HTC Diamond 2, HTC Trinity, HTC Touch 3G, HTC Touch Cruise, HTC Touch HD
On the Read Me page, the developer also put a strong warning on using the software as it may cause some legal issues in some countries.

Does it work?
Of course. I am actually quite amazed that it can capture such clear audio. Moreover, it does it automatically, regardless of if you call out or someone call in. Another good feature is that it will save the recording in accordance to the direction (Incoming/Outgoing) status of the call, the name of the person that you call or call you (as stated in your address book. If not inside, an unknown will be registered) and the call duration (in seconds).
So, what is your take on this type of software?
In my opinion, it depends what activity you use it for. For example, many good softwares use some kind of covet operation to protect the phone. So, when something happened to the phone, it will execute commands to save it.
And moreover, the developer is using the existing functions found on the phone to perform the task. And if you think it in a different way, it is just like any other phone recording machines.
What is your opinion on it?
