Free Microsoft Anti Virus Software from 23rd June 2009

Yes. Microsoft is going to release the Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) from 23rd June 2009. However, only a few (3 at this moment) will get to use it. They are Israel, Brazil and United States. Other countries will have to wait for it. Below is a screen shot of MSE (Beta). It seems that Microsoft has released Beta to some users for testing. The final version may not look like this. According to Straits Times report, Microsoft mentioned that paying to buy security software and updates “does not meet the needs of many consumers”. I guess some Anti-virus companies will be jumping mad unless they are retaliate that their software is superior in some other ways.

Here is how Microsoft discribes Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).

The US software giant described MSE as ‘a no-cost anti-malware solution that provides consumers with quality protection from threats including viruses, spyware, rootkits and trojans.’

Let’s wait and see how good MSE is.
