Sony Unveils Its Thinnest HD LCD TV
Sony’s BRAVIA ZX1 seamlessly balances cutting edge technology with flawless aesthetics
(Singapore, 9th June, 2009) – Sony Singapore introduces the BRAVIA ZX1, a stunning wireless Full HD LCD TV with uncompromised elegance that will transform any stylish living space.
“The BRAVIA ZX1 is a revelation,” says Mr. Takeo Kobayashi, Managing Director of Sony Singapore. “We constantly strive to design products that are cutting edge, and the ZX1 has set a clear benchmark both technologically and aesthetically. Whether it is the super-slim screen or the superior technological advances, the ZX1 will appeal to the most discerning users”.
Sophisticated Style
The most striking design feature is its slimmest 40-inch HD display screen, measuring a mere 9.9mm in depth. The secret behind this remarkable engineering feat is the Edge LED technology, which is achieved by using side-mounted LEDs to illuminate the screen instead of the usual backlight array.
Wireless Freedom
The BRAVIA ZX1 imbues cool sophistication whether it is free-standing or mounted on the wall, and thanks to ‘BRAVIA 1080 Wireless’ technology, the luxury aesthetics are not obscured by wires or other devices.
Instead, the innovative system utilises a ground-breaking, high-speed wireless connection capable of real time transmission of HD signals to the ZX1. Other home entertainment devices are easily connected to the transmitter, such as a Blu-ray player or PLAYSTATION®3, which can be conveniently located up to 20m away from the screen.
Excellent Picture Quality
As expected from BRAVIA, the image quality is outstanding. But what sets the BRAVIA ZX1 apart is the superior advanced image processing technology, Motionflow 100Hz technology, which guarantees that even the most frenetic image sequences appear effortlessly smooth and crisp. Motionflow 100Hz uses a unique algorithm to increase the frame rate of the TV picture to 100 fps (100Hz) by intelligently inserting additional frames to the picture. These additional frames compensate for scenes in which the 50 Hz frame rate is too slow to accurately and smoothly portray fast moving scenes such as sports, rapid panning of the camera or scrolling text on the bottom of the screen.
Coupled with IB Reduction (Image Blur Reduction), Motionflow technology cleans up the original signal, sharpening each frame before it is used as the basis for creating new ones. The combined effect is exceptional clarity and motion which always looks convincing.
Flexibility of a BRAVIA
The ZX1 is versatile thanks to four HDMI inputs (1 x screen; 3 x media transmitter unit), allowing it to connect to other home theatre devices. The HDMI input in the screen also enables BRAVIA Sync, 24p True Cinema and x.v.Colour. The ZX1 remote can be used to control the entire home theatre system, thanks to BRAVIA Sync technology, which uses HDMI to transmit control information to other BRAVIA Sync compatible devices.
The new BRAVIA ZX1 will be available from June 2009.
