Highlights of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c

Here are some highlights of the two phones, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.

iPhone 5s

Apple upgraded the current iPhone 5 with this iPhone 5s. It comes in 3 colors: Gold, Silver, Space Gray.

iphone2013-0140

It has basically 3 major features: Processor, Camera, Touch ID Sensor.

iphone2013-0227

Here are more information on the features of this iPhone 5s.

The upgraded A7 processor is now in 64-bit architecture.

iphone2013-0149

It is 40x faster (CPU) and 56x faster for graphics as compared to the original iPhone.

iphone2013-0153

Even though the chip is 64-bit, it can still run 32-bits apps.

iphone2013-0150

Apple has included another chip, M7, that has all the sensors needed for health and fitness related apps.

iphone2013-0174

There is an API for it. Developers can really made use of it to develop apps related to health and fitness.

iphone2013-0175

With all these processors and activities, the iPhone 5s still maintain a healthy talk-time on 3G and surfing time on 4G (or LTE).

iphone2013-0177

As for the camera, I feel that there isn’t much innovation. If you look at those modern smartphones now, they can already do what iPhone 5s can offer. For example the Burst Mode or the Panorama mode.

What I think is more interesting is the Slo-Mo feature. You can now take a video clip at HD quality (720P) at 120 fps and select the moment when you want the slow motion effect. I think this is cool.

iphone2013-0188

Now, this is the most “innovative” announcement from Apple on iPhone 5s. It is the Touch ID Sensor. Basically, it is like a fingerprint scanner. Apple has embedded the Touch ID sensor on the home button and the stainless steel detection ring is to detect your finger. Once placed properly, it will perform a scan to identify the fingerprint.

iphone2013-0205

Apple has deployed this Touch ID sensor deeply into iOS 7. So, things like unlocking your phone, making purchases via iTunes can be done with this sensor. Here are some more information on the Touch ID sensor.

So that is it for iPhone 5s. The rumors are spot on except for the fine details.

iPhone 5c

Apple market this iPhone 5c as trendy and colorful. It comes in 5 colors: White, Pink, Blue, Green, Yellow.

The cover is made of hard-coated Polycarbonate with an internal steel structure.
