What is New at The Singapore Police Force (video)

If you have been seeing a lot more Police presence in Singapore, you are not alone. Terrorist threats are real and as Singapore Government has always been reminding, it is “when” and not “if” a terrorist attack happens in Singapore.

Many might take for granted that the Singapore Police Force will “take care of everything” when “something” happens.

For example, many started to condemn the Singapore Police Force when the riot happened in at Little India in 2013 without understanding the situation and the complexity of it. Fast forward, it is now 2018. How is the Singapore Police Force today in their counter Terrorism capabilities? Check out this video below.

I love it when they use technology to ease the workload and to enhance efficiency. For example, they use Unmanned Aerial vehicle (UAV) and Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) that could be used for fast surveillance. And with more deployment of cameras on the streets, it greatly enhances the Police presence.

Of course, the most important is mindset and practice. We need to be reminded again and again that if it happens, what we should/should not do. That is why there are exercises like Exercise Northstar and etc are to drill us to act accordingly when that happens.

Do I sound like I am an SPF spokesperson? I am not. We live in Singapore and we need to be reminded that we cannot take things for granted.

Kudos to those men in blue, and not forgetting that there are many units and agencies out there, who are keeping Singapore safe.
