Samsung Singapore Stops Sales of Samsung Galaxy Note7

I believe you have heard stories about Samsung requesting partners and retailers to stop sales of the Samsung Galaxy Note7. I have reached out to Samsung Singapore and below are their response. If you are holding on to one, remember to switch it off and get a replacement device (of course, different model).

Here is the official news that I got to know from Samsung Singapore. Basically, there is no refund programme at the moment. I am interested in the “remedy” as mentioned in the news below.

Update on Samsung Galaxy Note7

Singapore, 11 October 2016 – Samsung is working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place.

We remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available.

Samsung Electronics Singapore is in talks with our telecommunication operator and retail partners to work out a resolution for our Galaxy Note7 customers. Details of the remedy will be shared very soon.

In the meantime, Galaxy Note7 customers who require a courtesy device on loan (subject to stock availability) can visit the Samsung Customer Service Centre at Westgate (level 3) during operating hours.
