M1 launches Future Lab for App Development

Technology showcase kicks off with Ngee Ann Polytechnic app development competition

 SINGAPORE, 30 October 2013 – M1 Limited (M1) today announced the launch of its Future Lab for mobile applications.

The Future Lab enables companies to experience innovative technologies such as cloud services, sensors, surveillance and fleet management, to better understand how they can tap on such tools to enhance productivity and business prospects.

M1 is also collaborating with Ngee Ann Polytechnic to nurture students’ interest in developing mobile applications and will make the Future Lab‘s full suite of tools and services available to its Electronic & Computer Engineering students. These include app hosting services as well as devices such as the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Note to test apps developed by the students. Additionally, M1 is also sponsoring prizes for Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s first app development competition, the M1 Future Lab School Challenge, and will help to market the winning teams’ apps to its ready base of corporate customers.

“The Future Lab gives our students an off-campus opportunity to keep abreast with the latest technological developments in mobile devices and applications. I look forward to the development of more innovative apps for the benefit of individual and corporate users,” said Mr Ng Kee Wan, Director of Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Electronic & Computer Engineering Division.

The Future Lab is located at M1’s Regional Operating Centre in Aljunied. It is open from 9am to 6pm on weekdays.
