YouTube app for Android updated with video overlay feature

YouTube app for Android has been updated to version 5.0.21. With this update, it features video overlay and some swipe gestures that makes the app more interesting to use.

Here are the official “What’s New” in the update in v5.0.21:

  • Open the guide from anywhere in the app for quick access to your subscriptions and feeds
  • Video suggestion overlays during playback
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements

Now, when you are viewing a video, you can just pull the video down while you continue to look for other videos. The video will play and overlay at the bottom right. You can swipe to the right or left to dismiss it. Once you touch it, it will expand out.

I think this is a very cool features. There are other cosmetic enhancement like option display during playback.

Overall, I think the app has become more appealing (to me) with this update.
