10TH CANON PHOTOMARATHON KICKS OFF WITH RECORD-BREAKING ATTENDANCE OF 2,419
SINGAPORE, 3 Nov. 2012 – The largest annual photo competition in the region, Canon PhotoMarathon Asia, kicked off this morning with a record-breaking attendance of 2,419 participants,taking part in the Singapore leg of the competition at Marina Bay Sands Singapore. This year’s attendance shows an increase of over 15 per cent from last year’s figure.
The Canon PhotoMarathon consists of three segments in which participants are required to create images according to the various themes which will be announced one after another throughout the one-day competition. The Canon PhotoMarathon X started at 9 a.m. and is expected to continue over the next 5 hours, culminating with the announcement of the winners at the end of the day.
The competition, which is in its 10th year, will also feature a Celebrity Challenge. Under this challenge, local celebrities — The Muttons, Jade Seah, Ross, Dawn Yeo and Nat Ho — will compete against each other based on the theme for the afternoon segment of the competition. Canon will be donating S$5,000 to the winning celebrity’s charity of choice.
Prizes
The Best of Show from each of the two categories — Open and Student — will win the grand prize which comprises an eight-day all-expense-paid photo clinic to Hungary. Other prize winners will walk away with attractive Canon products such as the Canon EOS 5D Mark III and Canon EOS 650D digital SLRs, among others.
