Like it or not, when everyone (almost) is going for the curvy soft look, Microsoft is going the opposite direction by presenting a simple new boxy Company logo (comprises of a symbol and logotype). Actually, I quite like it.
I love the simplicity and the Microsoft font. If you have played with Microsoft Windows 8, you will know that it has all the hard sharp edge look. And if you look at Windows Phone, it has all the square icons. Here is the introduction video.
In a blog post by Microsoft, it mentions:
The logo has two components: the logotype and the symbol. For the logotype, we are using the Segoe font which is the same font we use in our products as well as our marketing communications. The symbol is important in a world of digital motion (as demonstrated in the video above.) The symbol’s squares of color are intended to express the company’s diverse portfolio of products.
So, the logo comprises of the word Microsoft too.
