Girls in Tech Singapore

Today, I saw this article on Straits Times (Sunday Times) about Girls in Tech (GIT) in Singapore. I thought it was a good read. When it comes to Technology, it seems that it always revolves around guys. We (Techies) used to joke that there aren’t many girls/ladies bloggers/writers in the Tech sector. I am sure that it is going to rise.

The Girls in Tech Singapore Chapter is just 2 month old. The GIT was originally founded in 2007 by Adriana Gascoigne. She has moved to Singapore last November (according to the Sunday Times article). BTW, Here is the Girls in Tech Singapore mission statement.

Girls In Tech Singapore is a chapter of Girls In Tech, we focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded, professional women in technology.

And part of the group’s description.

‘Girls in Tech’ (GIT) is a social network enterprise focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded, professional, intelligent and influential women in technology. As young women with the capacity to inspire, we made it our personal desire and passion to create and sustain an organization that focuses on the collaboration, promotion, growth and success of women in the technology sector.

From the group, you can see staffs from Google, Microsoft and other Tech companies. There are also people from other sectors and it is great to see that they can connected via technology. If you are interested, do join their activities. You can find them on Facebook.
