Singapore, 18 December 2011 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) today celebrated an early Christmas with a record breaking mass gift exchange event for its prepaid mobile customers from the Singapore’s Filipino community.
Held at the SingTel Comcentre, the mass gift exchange was organized by SingTel and Globe Telecom. The turnout of 4385 participants from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Manila including 146 from Singapore broke the previous world record for gift exchanges. Participants had to form groups of 10 and bring a wrapped gift to be exchanged at the event. The record will be submitted to the Guinness Book of Records.
Free calls were also given out to the first 50 SingTel subscribers to call their loved ones in the Philippines. They could redeem their free calls between 1-6PM today. Customers who bought a SingTel prepaid hi!Card or topped up their prepaid cards with at least $10 at Lucky Plaza a few weeks before got Special Passes to win three sets of Airphil Express tickets and Nokia C2-01.

“SingTel understands the challenges the domestic helpers go through, especially when they are away from home for long periods. We are very happy our prepaid card services have helped to bridge the gap for them and their families. We hope this experience will make their Christmas a heart-warming one,” said Mr Derrick Heng, SingTel’s Director of Consumer Marketing.
“I am very happy to take part in this happy occasion and also get to use the SingTel prepaid cards to call home. Whenever I am homesick, I know my family is just a phone call away,” said Gildora Gadiano, a Filipino domestic helper and mother of three.
