Facebook introduces Subscribe button today. If you are plagued by friends who spam your wall with uninteresting stuff, you have the control now.
So, what can you do with Subscriber button?
- Choose what you see from people in News Feed
- Hear from people, even if you’re not friends
- Let people hear from you, even if you’re not friends
In other works, you control the way you see information on the Wall. And you can even follow someone who is not your friend. And another aspect of this subscribe button is the ability to see what you want.
- All updates: Everything your friend posts
- Most updates: The amount you’d normally see
- Important updates only: Just highlights, like a new job or move
How to Activate Subscribe Button?
I have just setup my Subscribe button (Yes, you have the choice to have it on your profile. If you are not comfortable, don’t do it). It has not appear on my profile yet. Maybe, it will take a few days. The important point is that you can subscribe to a person and you can choice what you want to see. If this person is sharing a lot of his/her games update, you can turn it off.
All subscribers to your profile will only be able to see your “public” post. So, if some information is sensitive, remember to set it properly before sharing.
Under the custom settings, you have more control.

From what I see, I think this type of change (or feature) is necessary as its competitor, Google+, is really doing a fine job with Circles. If you think otherwise, lets share your view here 🙂
