Celebrate National Day at Istana Art Event 2011

National Day is just round the corner. Come celebrate National Day with the President this Sunday at the Istana. Quite a heavy “cut and paste” post. But I think it is necessary to let you see the program installed.

ISTANA ART EVENT 2011

CELEBRATE THE NATION’S BIRTHDAY THE ARTISTIC WAY AT THE ISTANA ART EVENT 2011

In conjunction with the Istana’s National Day Open House

3 August 2011 – The Istana Art Event returns to the Istana grounds on August 7 this year to mark Singapore’s 46th birthday with more art and culture activities for all. This annual outreach event, held in conjunction with the Istana’s National Day Open House, aims to foster deeper appreciation for the arts and our national heritage. Members of the public can expect a wide variety of engaging art activities, including the highly-anticipated On-The-Sport Art Competition and the Arts and Heritage Village. This year’s Istana Art Event will also see an installation of birthday cards contributed by participants nation-wide.

ARTS AND HERITAGE VILLAGE

The Arts and Heritage Village is a platform for the public to embark on an artistic and cultural journey while getting to know the various museums in Singapore. Besides museums under the National Heritage Board, this year, members from the Museum Roundtable as well as the People’s Association will also be participating, offering more variety to the range of activities available on-site. Visitors can tap into their creative flair and artistry instincts, from ancient Chinese coin making, crafting of a tengkolok, to creating your own Olympic medal. Be wowed by the wide spectrum of hands-on activities from 10am onwards at the Arts and Heritage Village. (Please refer to Annex B for the full list of activities at the Arts and Heritage Village).
