SINGAPORE, March 11, 2010 – LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, today announced the availability in Singapore, of the LG WIDEBOOK^TM T280, a new notebook that is as mobile and reliable as it is stylish. Fitted with an Intel® processor designed for ultra-thin laptops – which greatly boosts both performance and battery life – the LG T280 is aimed at the tech-savvy trendsetter who demands eye-catching design and unbeatable mobility in a single package.

Fitted with a 2GB DDR memory, the LG T280 delivers longer battery life by cutting back on energy use and heat output. More impressively still, it does this in a notebook chassis that is one of the slimmest on the market – 16.7mm at its thinnest point – and weighs a mere 1.4kg. Consumers also have the option of a 6-cell battery or a 9-cell battery, which allow for respective uses of up to 6.5 and 10 hours between charges.

“Analysts predict that portable computers are expected to contribute to 90 percent of global PC growth over the next three years. The projected growth of the market is a timely one, with the economy emerging out of the global recession. With its grooved lid and single-stripe, minimalist design, the LG T280 boasts a slick look that is sure to be a hit with the fashion-forward crowd. Inside, the LED touchpad features hidden lighting and tactile feedback, while the 11.6-inch LED-backlit widescreen LCD has a 16:9 aspect ratio running at a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, providing the perfect setting for high-definition (HD) content including movies, games, and video conferences.

LG’s Smart Pack, the smartest software suite for notebooks, makes the LG T280 even more user-friendly. Along with Smart Recovery and Smart Care, LG’s superb care solution package, the newly added Smart POP lets users reply directly to SMS messages via Bluetooth without having to touch a mobile phone. In addition, Smart On 2.0 provides seamless access to e-mail and boots up a menu of frequently used functions in just five seconds.

Remembering that computers are for fun as well as work, LG has installed the LG T280 with one free causal game, Island Wars 2, with a range of five to seven games available for trial, too. The notebook also comes with a range of superb multimedia features including a 1.3-megapixel webcam with You-Cam viewer, ideal for conferencing or just video chatting with friends, as well as SRS TruSurround HD sound for wonderfully rich audio.
