What do You Think About Google’s Secret Project ‘Caffeine’?

Google has been secretly going through its pace on a secret project called ‘Caffeine’. With the recent announcements of Microsoft Bing and the partnership of Microsoft and Yahoo on using Bing, Google must have already felt the competition heating up. Now, with their (not so) secret project ‘Caffeine’, an enhanced search engine, they are really going head on with Microsoft and Yahoo.

The above is a screenshot of Caffeine search results of the word ‘Morakot’. And below is the standard Google Search.

You can immediately notice that Caffeine search this word ‘Morakot’ differently from its usual search engine. In my opinion, I think that Caffeine search is more related to the current trend (Tyhoon Morakot) as compared to the standard search.

And based on the results, Caffeine returns 3.6 million results in 0.13 seconds as compared to 10.1 million results in 0.3 seconds in Standard Google search.

In Google official statement via Straits Times,

‘It’s the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions.’

Google mentioned that they are more into comparing their standard search and Caffeine search than comparing with their competitors’ search engine (ie. Microsoft Bing).
