This Google Sync allows your iPhone, Windows Mobile devices or SyncML phones to synchronise Gmail contacts and Google calendar to your phone.

To me, it is like ActiveSync. In fact, Google had mentioned that they are actually user Microsoft Exchange Active Sync to accomplish the synchronisation. BTW, be careful before synchronisation. Ensure that you have backup your data. This is the same warning that Google had given before you synchronise.

Not all contacts in Gmail are synchronised. Only those in My Contacts are synchronise. That means if you have an Exchange Server to synchronise your emails or contacts, you would probably NOT able to use this service.

To add to My Contact, follow the below instruction:

  • Click on Contacts on your Gmail
  • Select the contacts that you wish to shift to My Contacts
  • Click “Move to My Contacts”
  • That is it!
