After some marketing campaign and embargo, I am finally allow to say, “iNQ Mini 3G has Reached Singapore Shore!”. Today (14th September 2009) is the launch of iNQ Mini 3G social phone in Singapore. We were invited to Supperclub at Odeon Towers.
The event started at 6:45pm. The venue, as mentioned was at Supperclub.
I was there early (6:30pm) and I had the chance to play around with the phone. I must say that the design is simple and colourful. It is definitely a social phone. You can see all the social networking icons floating on the screen. This function is actually like a ‘carousel-style’ menu. Nice! See the video below for a short demo. As you can see, I was obviously very new to the phone. However, it is quite easy to use. I am sure that after 15 minutes, everyone will be able to get a hang on it.
Supperclub has very nice ambiance and the place is decorated with logos of Singtel and iNQ. iNQ had held a contest last month to encourage budding artists and designers to express themselves freely. Contestants had to design works based on Singapore life and incorporate interesting elements of social and music activities. You can see all the winning designs on the wall.
Notice that iNQ has localized their design? Look at the logo below and you can see Ang Mo Kio.
The place started to get crowded after 7pm.
Everyone is trying on the new iNQ Mini 3G. Below is a shot of (from left) Frank Meehan (INQ Mobile CEO), Yuen Kuan Moon (SingTel EVP of Consumer) and Allen Burnes, Sales and Operations Director of iNQ.
Tonight’s compere is Glenn Ong (From Class 95 FM)
Together with Frank (iNQ) and a Singtel spokesman, Shane Da Silva, VP of Consumer Sales and also Glenn Ong, they introduced to us how iNQ came about and the design concept of iNQ social phone.
Here is something that everyone wants to know. When will this phone be out on the street. The answer is 19th September 2009 (Saturday). However, they simply do not want us to know the pricing. The only comforting part is that it will very affordable and a good surprise to many (I hope so).
We presentation completed with a view of iNQ clip.
We were then spilt into two groups to have a close discussion and hands on with the iNQ Mini 3G.

Also, we continued to asked iNQ future direction and we were glad that they are also looking into Android OS.

The event finale is 2 iNQ Mini 3G handsets to given away. It was nice to have two of my blogger friends to win these two prizes. Congrats to Neo and Jacelyn. Remember to mock them when you see them. They are some of the few in Singapore that are holding this phone!
And to end the event, here is a Twitter Cupcake to welcome this Social Phone to Singapore.
BTW, I am also holding one of this phone for review these few days. Will try as much as possible to “play” with it. If you have questions, shoot. If I know, I will answer. I will don’t, I will find out for you… 🙂
Hope that you enjoy this coverage..
