Call\nfor Entries for HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards 2019 Begin <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

[<\/strong><\/a>Singapore,\n1 April 2019<\/strong>]<\/strong> HUAWEI, the world\u2019s second largest\nsmartphone manufacturer, has announced the launch of the third annual HUAWEI\nNEXT-IMAGE Awards. Visual creatives from around the world are now invited to\nsubmit their entries from today until 31st<\/sup> July 2019 to compete to\nbecome NEXT-IMAGE finalists and have their work judged by a panel of world-class\nphotographers, curators, and visual artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2019 HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards\nwill provide HUAWEI smartphone users with a gallery where they can showcase\ntheir best work to a global audience. Now in their third year, to date the\nAwards have seen over 550,000 entries from over 130 countries – helping to\nestablish them as one of the world\u2019s most popular smartphone photography contests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HUAWEI is well-regarded for its\nmobile photography innovation, and its flagship smartphones are known for their\ncutting-edge technology and best-in-class cameras. Building on this to mark\nHUAWEI\u2019s continuous pursuit of the ultimate image-making experience, the NEXT-IMAGE\nAwards were created in 2017 as an important part of HUAWEI\u2019s overarching\nNEXT-IMAGE Plan to redefine visual expression and culture through more\nprofessional and intuitive smartphone cameras.

The\nAwards embody our commitment to providing high-quality tools that help make the\nwork of a new generation of digital artists possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2019 HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards\nare broken down into six categories: \u2018#Emotion\nTag\u2019, \u2018Hello, Life!\u2019, \u2018Faces\u2019, \u2018Going the Distance\u2019, \u2018Life Now\u2019 <\/strong>and \u2018Storyboard\u2019<\/strong>. While three of the\ncategories from 2018 remain, there are three new ones which will add an extra\ndimension to the Awards this year. They are \u2018#Emotion Tag\u2019 which is about\nexpressing instant emotions by means of smartphone photography; \u2018Going the\nDistance\u2019 which is about discovering new places and new experiences by using\nnew features found in a phone camera, especially zoom features; and \u2018Life Now\u2019\nwhich is about filming a story in less than 30 seconds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be one Grand Prize winner\nwho will win US$20,000, the latest HUAWEI P30 Pro smartphone, an opportunity to\nattend the NEXT IMAGE Awards ceremony at Paris Photo 2019 and a winner\u2019s medal or\ncertificate. Additionally there will be six best-in-category winners (each\nwinning US$6,000, a HUAWEI P30 Pro smartphone, a medal or certificate, and an\nopportunity to attend the Awards ceremony) and 50 runner-up prizes (each\nwinning a HUAWEI P30 Pro smartphone). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\nSingapore, participants who submit their photos before 31st<\/sup> May 2019\nwill stand a chance to be invited to a private mobile photography workshop with\nrenowned celebrity photographer, Russel Wong, who has spent months using the\nHUAWEI P30 Pro. The judging panel has also been\nexpanded in 2019 to include a jury of world-class photographers, curators and\nvisual artists. Among them are four Magnum Photographers which include the\nhighly respected Alec Soth<\/strong> who is\nreturning to the jury for his second year, and three newcomers in the form of Bieke Depoorter,<\/strong> Gueorgui Pinkhassov, <\/strong>and\nSteve McCurry<\/strong>. They are joined by Liu\nHeung Shing<\/strong>, a Pultizer-winning photojournalist; fashion photographer and\nartist Erik Madigan Heck<\/strong>; Li Changzhu<\/strong>, Vice President of Handsets\nProduct Line, HUAWEI Consumer Business Group; and Andrew Garrihy<\/strong>, Chief Marketing Officer of Western Europe, HUAWEI\nConsumer Business Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury member Erik Madigan Heck<\/strong> said, \u201cIt is a privilege to have been asked to be\none of the judges for the HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards, which is an amazing\nopportunity for people around the world to get their work seen by hundreds of\nthousands of people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the second year running, HUAWEI\nwill also be displaying winning NEXT-IMAGE Awards works as part of a wider\nexhibition during the annual Paris Photo, a leading international photography\nfair. Last year\u2019s NEXT-IMAGE exhibition showcased over 5,000 photos taken with\nHUAWEI phones by professional photographers and amateurs from all around the\nworld and went on display in Paris, Beijing and Shenzhen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
