However, not all PMDs are affected. From now till end-March 2019, if you register online or through Post Office, you will be exempted the registration fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lta.gov.sg\/apps\/news\/page.aspx?c=2&amp;id=5a541c51-249e-4e02-a580-dc1288bee803\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Click Here to Read the Full Details (opens in a new tab)\">Click Here to Read the Full Details<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Check if you Need to Register?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All motorized personal mobility devices with handlebars must be registered. However, you must ensure that they fit the requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only e-scooters that meet the following criteria can be registered and used on public paths: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Maximum device unladen weight of 20 kg; <\/li><li>Maximum device width of 70 cm; and <\/li><li>Maximum device speed of 25km\/h.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Check if Yours is Within the Requirement?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Basically, you have to judge yourself during the registration and declare accordingly. If you made false declaration during the registration, here is what you might get: &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>&#8220;If there are false declarations, the registration of the e-scooter could be cancelled and the registration fee forfeited. Offenders can be fined up to $5,000 and\/or face an imprisonment up to 12 months. If a non-compliant e-scooter is used on public paths and roads, it could be impounded, seized and forfeited.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><cite>Source: https:\/\/www.onemotoring.com.sg\/content\/onemotoring\/home\/buying\/vehicle-types-and-registrations\/E-Scooters.html<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Else You Need to Know?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from the 3 basic criterias to register your PMDs, you will also need to declare if your PMD is UL2272 certified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em><strong>&#8220;The UL2272 standard specifies a set of safety requirements covering the electrical drive train system including the battery system, other circuitry and electrical components of motorised PMDs such as e-scooters. We will require all motorised PMDs to be certified to the UL2272 standard to improve public safety and address the risk of fire incidents involving motorised PMDs.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p><cite>Source: https:\/\/www.lta.gov.sg\/data\/apps\/news\/press\/2018\/20181212_E-scooter_registration_process_AnnexA.pdf<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>If your PMD is not UL2272 certified, you can still register and ride it until end-December 2020. Note that it will be de-registered automatically from 1st Jan 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>&#8220;Upon registration, owners will be required to declare if their device is certified to the UL2272 standard. Existing <\/em><\/strong><strong><em><g class=\"gr_ gr_7 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace\" id=\"7\" data-gr-id=\"7\">non<\/g><\/em><\/strong><strong><em>-UL2272 certified e-scooters can be registered as long as they were purchased before 1 July 2019. Owners can continue using these registered <\/em><\/strong><strong><em><g class=\"gr_ gr_9 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace\" id=\"9\" data-gr-id=\"9\">non<\/g><\/em><\/strong><strong><em>-UL2272 certified e-scooters on public paths until 31 December 2020. These registered <\/em><\/strong><strong><em><g class=\"gr_ gr_10 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling\" id=\"10\" data-gr-id=\"10\">non<\/g><\/em><\/strong><strong><em>-UL2272 certified e-scooters will be automatically deregistered on 1 January 2021, when <\/em><\/strong><strong><em><g class=\"gr_ gr_11 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling\" id=\"11\" data-gr-id=\"11\">non<\/g><\/em><\/strong><strong><em>-UL2272 certified e-scooters are no longer allowed to be used on public paths.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p><cite>Source: https:\/\/www.lta.gov.sg\/data\/apps\/news\/press\/2018\/20181212_E-scooter_registration_process_AnnexA.pdf<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Check If Your PMD is UL2272 Certified?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can check the sticker on your PMD. Here are the steps and requirements when you register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ONLINE REGISTRATION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Log in to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onemotoring.com.sg\/escooter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">www.onemotoring.com.sg\/escooter<\/a>\u00a0with your SingPass or CorpPass 2FA, and have the following ready:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make\/model of your e-scooter, as well as its specifications (i.e. presence of seat(s), number of wheels, colour of e-scooter)<\/li><li>Softcopy colour photograph of your e-scooter (max. upload file size: 5MB)<\/li><li>Soft copy colour photograph of the certification mark on your e-scooter if it is UL2272 certified (max. upload file size 5MB)<\/li><li>e-NETS (Internet Banking Account with Citibank, DBS\/POSB, OCBC\/Plus!, Standard Chartered Bank or UOB) or credit\/debit card (VISA or MasterCard only) to make payment for the $20 registration fee (waived if you registered from 2 January to 31 March 2019)&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apply in person at any Post Office (only from 2 January to 30 June 2019)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Bring along the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A completed copy of the registration form (Form PMD01)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Identification document (original NRIC\/FIN for individuals, printout of ACRA business profile for businesses)<\/li><li>Hardcopy photograph of your e-scooter<\/li><li>Hardcopy photograph of the UL2272 certification mark on your e-scooter (if your e-scooter is UL2272-certified)<\/li><li>Registration fee of $20 by cash or NETS (waived if you register from 2 January to 31 March 2019)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note: Registration is not available at Thomson and Whampoa Post Offices.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Need to Do After Registering Your PMD?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are done registrating your PMD, you need to do these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>After registering, you will receive a Registration Mark bearing a unique registration number assigned by LTA.<\/li><li>Fabricate an Identification Mark bearing the registration number.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.onemotoring.com.sg\/content\/onemotoring\/home\/buying\/vehicle-types-and-registrations\/E-Scooters.html#registration_mark\" target=\"_blank\">Affix the LTA Registration Mark and the Identification Mark<\/a>\u00a0on your e-scooter within 14 calendar days after registration.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That is it.
