OPPO launches their latest R17 and R17 Pro in Singapore yesterday. Thanks to their invite, I am able to have a feel on the latest handsets. The OPPO R17 will be available from 6th Oct while the R17 Pro will be available from 10th November (Pre-order from 3rd November).<\/p>\n

Singapore is the first market globally to launch the R17 series following the Shanghai launch earlier this year. The OPPO R17 launch event was held at popular club AVRY, located at Raffles Boulevard and was an immersive and experiential experience that provided attendees with the opportunity to try out the new R17 series. Through an interactive exhibition, the launch offered attendees the chance to \u2018seize the night\u2019 and test out the Ultra-night mode camera setting through a unique photo-booth set up.<\/p>\n

Revolutionary Gradient Design <\/strong><\/p>\n

Adhering to OPPO\u2019s design philosophy of creating artistic smartphone designs, OPPO continuously strives to create new designs using OPPO’s fashionable aesthetics and advanced craftsmanship. Starting with the Nebula Purple of the R15, OPPO has been leading the trend of the industry, making gradient designs a trend for smartphone design. The R17 introduces a brand-new “three-color and bi\/quad-direction” gradient design using a light-condensing layer that enables light to flow on\u00a0the surface of the device.<\/p>\n

Powered by innovative technologies for a seamless experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

The R17 series adopts Corning\u00ae Gorilla\u00ae Glass 6 for the first time, with a 91.5%\u00a0screen-to-body ratio and Hidden Fingerprint Unlock for the R17 Pro. The Corning\u00ae\u00a0Gorilla\u00ae Glass 6 is able to withstand a drop from a one-meter height to a rough\u00a0surface for an average 15 times, doubled that of the Gorilla Glass 5 performance.<\/p>\n

The R17 Pro also carries SuperVOOC flash charging technology, allowing users to\u00a0enjoy the safest and most efficient charging technology in the industry. The R17 Pro\u00a0also support NFC wireless payment, making the transition to mobile payments easy\u00a0and convenient.<\/p>\n

The R17 is equipped with a 6GB DDR4 RAM, with octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon\u00a0670 mobile platform. It can perform multiple tasks seamlessly such as HD video\u00a0playing or online mobile games. With 128GB storage space, users have ample space\u00a0to store all their files.<\/p>\n

Camera perfect for quality photography<\/strong><\/p>\n

When it comes to product technology, night shooting is one of the most common\u00a0challenges in the smartphone industry. The R17 series upgrades both hardware and\u00a0software, making the R17 and R17 Pro a smartphone specially designed for night\u00a0shooting. The R17 and R17 Pro features a software-level AI Ultra-clear Engine that\u00a0allows users to take high-quality night photos. The AI Ultra-clear Engine is OPPO’s\u00a0unique image-enhancing technology that is able to break all hardware limitations to\u00a0maximise the image quality to produce amazing night shots.<\/p>\n

The R17 comes with a 25MP front camera and a Sony IMX576 sensor with f\/2.0\u00a0aperture equipped with real-time HDR support. The R17 series is able to provide up\u00a0to 8 million different beautification schemes to intelligently match different users\u00a0across the globe. Additionally, the customised beauty mode can now identify up to\u00a0four people in the frame and enables users to adjust the facial features and preview\u00a0the effects in real time. The rear cameras of the R17 series can intelligently recognise 23 photography modes and as many as 864 scenario combinations to ensure every\u00a0shot taken is the best shot possible.<\/p>\n

The R17 Pro is equipped with a variable smart aperture of f1.5\/f2.4 which can\u00a0automatically adjust to the lighting conditions making images sharper and clearer in\u00a0both bright and low light situations. The R17 Pro has OIS (Optical Image\u00a0Stabilisation), which can stabilise images and guarantee a longer exposure time to\u00a0brighten night-time photography, especially with a 7P lens module. The combination\u00a0of these two features further heightens precision in night-time photography.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, with regards to sensors, the R17 Pro uses a Sony IMX362 as its main\u00a0camera, which has 12 MP with dual-pixel for quick and accurate focusing, and 1.4-micron pixels size and 1\/2.55 sensor size, for brighter night shots and lower noise\u00a0level. Overall, the whole hardware system of the OPPO R17 Pro is designed for night\u00a0photography.<\/p>\n

The R17 Pro also features TOF 3D camera, upgrading the camera from 2D to 3D\u00a0and featuring users\u2019 functions like 3D photos, somatosensory games, AR ruler and\u00a0more.<\/p>\n

The OPPO R17 6GB+128GB will be available in Singapore on 6th October at $699.<\/p>\n
