Press Release<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 NOW MORE PREMIUM AND MORE INTELLIGENT<\/em><\/p>\n Singapore (8 September 2017)<\/strong> \u2013 Nissan Qashqai, the best-selling model in the Nissan line-up is now\u00a0available with significant enhancements which further develop its premium character. The upgrades\u00a0focus on four areas \u2013 a contemporary new exterior design; higher levels of interior quality; improved\u00a0driving performance; and the addition of new Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies to deliver\u00a0even greater levels of customer comfort, reassurance and trust.<\/p>\n \u201cSince the introduction of this second generation Qashqai in 2014, its popularity quickly grew to\u00a0become the best-seller for Nissan. Together with other Nissan crossover models, they have formed\u00a0one of the main pillars in driving Nissan sales growth in Singapore. Featuring a\u00a0contemporary new look \u2013 a style Nissan calls \u2018Premium Dynamism\u2019 \u2013 the upgrades are visible from\u00a0every angle.<\/p>\n The front of the Qashqai has been completely refreshed, with an integrated new front bumper\u00a0fitted. It features much greater use of the car\u2019s body colour, with the visible black plastic benefiting\u00a0from a more premium gloss finish. At the rear of the new Qashqai, the redesigned bumper creates a\u00a0more contemporary shape and more premium finish. On the roof, the new shark fin antenna is\u00a0clearly visible where fitted.<\/p>\n At the heart of redesigned front face of the Qashqai is the latest incarnation of Nissan\u2019s iconic \u2018Vmotion\u2019\u00a0grille, which frames the new Nissan badge. For 2.0L variant, it has a completely flat finish;\u00a0this is because the radar which forms part of the Qashqai\u2019s Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB)\u00a0system is now located behind it. A flat finish allows radar waves to pass through it unhindered.\u00a0A\u00a0second version of the badge, contoured in a more traditional way, is fitted to 1.2L variant.<\/p>\n Framing the grille are new LED lamps, the \u2018boomerang\u2019 Day Time Running Lights (DRL) signature is\u00a0also new, extending right across the top of the lamp unit. The result is a more contemporary and\u00a0premium appearance.<\/p>\n In profile view, the enhancements to the Qashqai are expressed through a new range of premium\u00a0alloy wheel designs in 17 and 19-inch sizes. All have been aerodynamically optimised to reduce drag.\u00a0The new Qashqai has also increased in overall length by 14mm, with the total moving from 4,380 to\u00a04,394mm.<\/p>\n The Qashqai\u2019s palette of exterior colours is now enhanced with two vibrant new choices \u2013 Vivid Blue\u00a0and Chestnut Bronze.<\/p>\n Interior enhancements boost new Qashqai\u2019s premium appeal<\/strong><\/p>\n The impact of the premium upgrades to the Nissan Qashqai is most obvious in the cabin. They have\u00a0resulted in a higher level of perceived quality and refinement, a more driver-oriented interior and an\u00a0enhanced feeling of total control.<\/p>\n Entering the car, the striking new steering wheel is the first thing drivers will notice. The D-shaped\u00a0horizontal base means easier entry and exit for the driver, as well as providing a sportier look and\u00a0feel. This D-shaped multi-function steering wheel with premium satin silver detailing on the central\u00a0spoke, features a new four-way controller for the combimeter display, for more intuitive use and\u00a0less ‘eyes off the road’ time.<\/p>\n In the cabin, the new premium seats are trimmed in the highest-quality soft nappa leather, with\u00a0luxurious 3D quilting on the centre panels for the 2.0L variant. Now monoform in style, the seats\u00a0feature an extended base and bolster shape for additional support. With a higher back and tapered\u00a0shoulders, it creates a roomier cabin environment, a more cossetted feeling for the occupant and\u00a0improved visibility for rear passengers.<\/p>\n In the 2.0L variant, the driver\u2019s seat features electrically-controlled four-way pneumatic lumbar\u00a0support. This allows drivers of all sizes to fine-tune their seating position, enhancing comfort and\u00a0reducing fatigue. A seat memory function with two stored positions has been added, linked to the\u00a0door mirrors. Additionally, all windows can be opened and closed together remotely via the key fob.<\/p>\n The boot is a truly flexible load space, with a carrying capacity of 430 litres which increases to 1,598\u00a0litres when the 60:40 split rear seats are folded flat.<\/p>\n An even more confident drive<\/strong><\/p>\n The Nissan Qashqai has always been renowned for its confident drive. On ride comfort, the priority\u00a0was calmer body motion and improved impact shock. This was achieved by retuning the dampers,\u00a0reducing the single wheel spring rate, and modifying rubber components. The anti-roll bar stiffness\u00a0has been increased to maintain handling performance. There is now reduced body motion when\u00a0going over large bumps thanks to changes to the car\u2019s Intelligent Ride Control system.<\/p>\n To enhance handling, the engineering team has created a more secure feel and improved line\u00a0traceability through corners. This has been achieved with a new thicker steering shaft and changes\u00a0to the steering effort build-up around dead centre.<\/p>\n On steering, a new technology called Active Return Control means the steering wheel now returns to\u00a0centre more naturally, with improved precision during driving. The assembly behind the new\u00a0steering wheel features a new dynamic damper which has resulted in less vibration reaching the\u00a0driver\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n There are significant improvements to noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance on the\u00a0new Qashqai. More sound insulation material, and material of a higher quality, has been added\u00a0inside the front doors and behind the rear wheel arches. Additional sealing around the front doors\u00a0has been integrated, while the rear door glass is now thicker \u2013 from 3.15mm to 3.85mm \u2013 to\u00a0improve the rear passenger experience. The road and wind noise in the cabin have been reduced\u00a0and there is also less engine noise. For customers, the quieter cabin creates a more premium feeling\u00a0and lowers fatigue levels.<\/p>\n New Nissan Intelligent Mobility Technologies<\/strong><\/p>\n Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) is the name for the brand\u2019s advanced technologies which make its\u00a0cars more desirable by redefining how they are driven, powered and integrated into society. The\u00a0goal is to make Nissan drivers feel more confident, excited and connected, while also enhancing road\u00a0safety.<\/p>\n New Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies have been added to the Qashqai. The Intelligent\u00a0Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection* uses four cameras to give the driver a virtual\u00a0bird\u2019s-eye view of the car with selectable split-scene close-ups of the front, rear and curbside.\u00a0Incorporating Moving Object Detection, it can also detect moving objects around the vehicle, and\u00a0can give the driver a visual and audible alert.<\/p>\n The Intelligent Emergency Braking* helps to avoid or mitigate collisions using a combination of\u00a0forward-facing radar and a camera.
