Pok\u00e9mon Go has become a World-wide sensation since it was officially launched last week in selected countries. Many people in Europe and Asia are\u00a0disappointed because it is not available to them immediately. However, based on WSJ<\/a>\u00a0(via The Verge<\/a>), it seems that Europe and Asia will get it within a few days.<\/p>\n

Over the last few days, there were many reports on Pok\u00e9mon Go. Some\u00a0reports say that it causes people to exercise more<\/a>, another says that Pok\u00e9mon Go players are vulnerable to robbers<\/a> and another story\u00a0closer to home (Singapore) says\u00a0that an expat was terminated immediately for making lousy comments about Singapore not having Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It may sound hilarious but it shows that even though Pok\u00e9mon has been around for 20 years, it has not lose its appeal. People are still crazy about Pok\u00e9mon (Pikachu and the rest).<\/p>\n

So, what is Pok\u00e9mon Go?<\/em><\/h2>\n

Pok\u00e9mon Go is an AR (Augmented Reality) game that make users explore the real world in search of Pok\u00e9mon characters via the smartphones using camera, GPS, sensors and etc. It sounds simple but it is quite complex. I suggest you take a look at this post<\/a> to understand more.<\/p>\n

For those who played Ingress, Pok\u00e9mon Go might be easier to master (since they are created from the same company, Niantic and uses some data collected from Ingress).<\/p>\n

A reminder to those (on Android) who saw links to download the game APK. There are some APKs that are infected with Malware. I suggest you wait for the official release before getting into the game.<\/p>\n

Today (11th July), about an hour or so, the Pok\u00e9mon Go servers went live in some parts of Asia<\/a> (Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei included) and caused some “commotion” in the Internet communities. However, it was short lived as all servers are offline now.<\/p>\n

So, lets hope that the news is accurate and we can see crazy people running around Singapore and other Asia countries catching\u00a0creatures.<\/p>\n
