Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is coming soon, actually in less than a month. As a tradition, adults who are married are “empowered” to give Ang Baos (or Red Packets) to children and in some tradition, to those who are single.<\/p>\n

One of the common scenes during CNY period in Singapore is people queuing up in banks to get the fresh and crispy new notes to prepare Ang Baos. Fro your information, it is common for Chinese people to use new things (including money) during CNY as a sign of good luck. The frustration is that you will need to wait to get these notes and to go there during their operation hours.<\/p>\n

This year, DBS\/POSB customers will not need to queue in the banks to get them. Starting from early February, expect 29 pop-up POSB ATMs\u00a0at 10 community clubs islandwide. \u00a0Customers will be able to get new and good-as-new notes in sums of $100 ($2 x 50), $300 ($10 x 30), $500 ($50 x 10) and $1,000 ($10 x 20 and $50 x 16) from these pop-up ATMs.<\/span><\/p>\n

They\u00a0will be located at 10 community clubs at Bukit Batok, Chong Pang, Henderson, Kreta Ayer, Kampong Chai Chee, Mountbatten, Toa Payoh West, Yew Tee, Yuhua and Teck Ghee. Apart from that, DBS and POSB \u00a0customers will be able to withdraw new notes from ATMs at all 58 SingPost branches in Singapore.<\/p>\n

And one more news.\u00a0DBS or POSB\u00a0customers have another new option to give out Ang Baos. Introducing DBS PayLah! new eAng Bao feature. You\u00a0can now\u00a0easily send and receive cash via your mobile phones with this feature.<\/p>\n

BTW, I wonder if this is good or bad news. For those\u00a0who\u00a0are not around this festive season, you can now send or\u00a0receive eAng Bao via DBS PayLah!\u00a0So, there is no reason to “escape” from giving out Ang Bao this year.<\/p>\n

Actually, this is not the first time an app has this feature. WeChat in China already has this feature incorporated since last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n
