Cota by Ossia is a revolutionary design and idea to charge devices (phones in particular). Currently, when we talked about wireless charging, we think about the Qi<\/a> induction charging. The unit has to be placed very near the Qi induction unit to charge.<\/p>\n

\nHowever, with Cota, it is totally different. You can forget about the line of sight charging. In fact, the range for the charging is about 100 ft. What you need is to be within the range of the source. A receiver will be needed on the device (i.e. a smartphone). Once it establishes connection, it starts to charge.<\/p>\n

The best part about Cota is that it can charge multiple devices. Imagine the source in a room and all devices with the receivers can be charged instantly. Super cool idea.<\/p>\n

The brainchild behind this is\u00a0physicist Hatem Zeine. This is his first time showing the prototype Cota to the public during the TechCrunch Disrupt event. I know the more I talk, the more confuse you might get. So, here is the video on his demo.<\/p>\n
