TrafficGEM is here in Singapore. Although the title says that it can ease traffic jam, it does not physically do it. Instead, it let users see the traffic condition so that users can make the decision to re-route to a less jam road. BTW, GEM means Guided Expeditious Mobility. This initial device is made by Mio and it comes with the software plus the navigation device that has a 4.3 inch screen. It is a touchscreen, can play music and a phone. It is priced at S$599.<\/p>\n

According to the report, more enhancements and upgrades will be made to incorporate into more devices and also more features. The features may include voice prompt to alert drivers of a congestion, automatic re-route around congested areas, and calculating the fastest way to a place based on real road conditions (and not just distance).<\/p>\n

Additionally, we may be able to check parking lot availability or even book a restaurant with it. However, it falls short of telling us what is the technology behind it. How is the information gathered (according to the report, the real-time traffic information service is offered by the Automobile Association of Singapore).<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, this will definitely be a GEM to road users. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
