Thanks to Sony Singapore, I am able to be among the first to have a hands-on session with the latest Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 II compact camera in Singapore. The RX100 II will be available in Singapore from 7th August 2013 at RRP $999.<\/p>\n

The RX100 II is very compact. It has a maximum zoom factor of 3.6x. Do not be fooled by the compactness of this camera. It has a one inch BSI sensor in it.<\/p>\n

It also comes with Carl Zeiss Lens with a maximum (open) aperture of f\/1.8, I think many photographers will be excited about it. For the layman, I can describe it in simple term. You will be able to get a clean image in low light condition.<\/p>\n

Not only that, the Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 II also has a multi interface shoe that you can use to expand its usage. For example, you can attach a mic, a electronic view finder, flash or video light on it.<\/p>\n

Another popular feature of this camera is the NFC and WiFi capability. With these two, you can tap the camera to connect to a NFC smartphone. Once connected, you can do remote shutter and etc. There is an app for it.<\/p>\n

The screen can actually be tilted for challenging angle as shown below.<\/p>\n

For those who loves to do self-portrait using the tilted screen, it is not possible. I am not sure why Sony do not want to use a pivot screen where you can swivel the screen 180 degrees. The only reason I can think of is that Sony wanted to preserve the compactness of this camera.<\/p>\n

Note that the multi Interface shoe will not be able to interface directly with Canon flash (not sure about Nikon). You will need an adapter for it.<\/p>\n
