The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) organized a 3-days event (Navy@Vivo) at Vivocity. The main attraction is the Stealth Frigate, RSS Intrepid. It was docked at the Vivocity Promenade to let the public visit. Thanks to MINDEF who organizes the event, I got the chance to board the RSS Intrepid.<\/p>\n

The RSS Intrepid is 114 meters long and it could hold up to 72 crews and 19 air detachment for the S-70B naval helicopter.<\/p>\n

We were given\u00a0 a short briefing on the warship and also on the safety of the place by CPT Edsel Ang.<\/p>\n

As RSS Intrepid was also involved in the patrol at Gulf of Eden, a part of the ship was converted to a gym (originally, the place is used to hold missiles). Of course, everything is detachable and the space can be transformed back to the original condition easily.<\/p>\n

Next, we visited the area where they house the Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) and missiles’ canister.<\/p>\n

Following that, we were ushered to the Bridge. We have to climb a steep ladder to reach the place.<\/p>\n

On the Bridge, the commander can see a wide view of the area. The children love the place as it resembles gaming consoles with joysticks, headsets and etc.<\/p>\n

Anyway, we proceeded to our next station which is the R&R (Rest and Relax) place for the people on board the ship. However, to get there, we have to go down a few levels and walk through narrow corridors.<\/p>\n

As there were too many people, we took another route and we saw another RHIB. According to RSN, it is used for rescue purpose. It can be deployed easily and it is concealed by some webbing or net.<\/p>\n

I bet you can’t see the RHIB from the outside with these webbing or net.<\/p>\n

Finally, we reached the Loft 69.<\/p>\n

Inside, I can see a coffee maker and according to them, the “luxury items” depends from ship to ship.<\/p>\n

And there are other entertainment like gaming consoles.<\/p>\n

Next, we continued to visit the “war room” or Combat Information Centre (CIC). No pictures were allowed in the room. We were shown how the Frigate can engage various types of threats and also some basic operations of the Frigate.<\/p>\n

After that, we went to the Heli-deck to wait for the Ceremonial Sunset event at 7:15pm. Here are the guys in No. 1 uniform getting ready.<\/p>\n
