When I first saw this similar title from Straits Times, I was thinking? “Isn’t Tablet PC has been around for a long time” However, after reading the story, I realized that this Tablet PC is a little different. It has no keyboard. Just a screen (like a big PDA without buttons) and if have notice, it may resembled the rumored MAC Tablet that is supposed to be available at the end of this year. Below is a picture of near final industrial design. The one from Straits Times (red in color) is after the break.<\/p>\n

\nOne of the biggest challenge for people to accept this Tablet PC is it has no internal storage and all depends on Internet connectivity and all software has to rely on cloud computing.<\/p>\n

I am seriously surprised that a Singapore company, Fusion Garage, is working with TechCrunch with this device. I remembered when TechCrunch introduced it a while ago, it looks rubbery. Now, it has become a reality.<\/p>\n

  • Dimensions:<\/strong> 12.77 by 7.83 inches, and 0.74 inch thick.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Hardware:<\/strong> A 1.6-GHz Intel Atom processor and 1 GB RAM.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Software:<\/strong> Web-centric browser operating system, based on Web Kit, created by Fusion Garage.The OS features a virtual keyboard, and allows users to type or carry out other tasks using their fingers. <\/span>For instance, swiping a finger to the left goes back a page in an open document, while swiping right turns the page.<\/span>An accelerometer allows the device to adjust automatically to portrait or landscape view, depending on which way you hold it. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Peripherals:<\/strong> One USB port is built-in, so users can connect a keyboard or mouse.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Connectivity:<\/strong> Built-in Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, and a port for mobile broadband.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Pricing:<\/strong> Not confirmed yet, though it is likely to be in the range of US$399 (S$575).<\/span><\/li>\n
