If you have already downloaded the latest iPhone firmware 2.2, you will notice that it is not possible to show any emoticons on your phone, unless yours is a Japanese version. Of course, people are mad about it. So, a developer took task to enable the emoticons on all iPhone firmware version 2.2. BTW, if you are on firmware 2.2, you are already automatically able to see emoticons.<\/p>\n

\nYou will need a little bit of technical knowledge to do it. Too bad, I don’t own an iPhone. If not, I will make a simple video on how to do it. Anyway, Here are the instructions I copied. Do it at your own risk.<\/p>\n

You need to edit the file \/User\/Library\/Preferences\/com.apple.Preferences.plist on the device -> whether you use a jailbreak to achieve this or merely some iTunes backup editor is up to you.<\/p>\n

Add the following boolean key as \u2018true\u2019: KeyboardEmojiEverywhere.<\/p>\n

Then merely go to the Keyboards section of the Settings app, hit Japanese, and turn on Emoji. Will work for any text field\/view in the OS, including on websites, AND including the titles of items on SpringBoard (e.g. if you save a bookmark to the home screen).<\/p>\n
