Every time when I need to migrate to another computer, I will be missing all those custom emoticons on Windows Live Messenger. The emoticons are not easily exportable. BTW, this is for Microsoft Windows 7 version.<\/p>\n<p>Instruction:<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How to Export Emoticons<\/span><\/h1>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">On the computer that stores the emoticons<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Close the Windows Live Messenger program<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">You can right click on the Windows Live Messenger icon to &#8220;exit&#8221; the program<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Click on &#8220;Start&#8221;. Type &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">cmd.exe<\/span>&#8220;.<\/span> <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">It should show cmd.exe in the search. Click on it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">If not, click on &#8220;Start&#8221;, Click &#8220;All Programs&#8221;, go to &#8220;Accessories&#8221; Folder. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">You can see &#8220;Command Prompt&#8221; program. Click on it<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Once you are at the Command Prompt (i.e. C:\\Users\\&lt;your profile name&gt;\\), type &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">md\\messengercontent<\/span>&#8221; and enter<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">You have now created a directory at the root directory (i.e. C:\\messengercontent)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">This directory is to prepare you to copy entirely the emoticons into it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Type in this command &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">cd\\c:\\users\\&lt;your profile name&gt;\\local settings\\microsoft\\messenger\\&lt;your Windows Live ID&gt;\\Objectstore<\/span>&#8220;<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Basically, this command is to go to the folder where the emoticons are stored.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">&lt;your Windows Live ID&gt; is usually your hotmail or email that you registered for the Windows Live Messenger.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Once you successfully reach the Objectstore folder, type in this command &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">xcopy\/s *.* c:\\messengercontent<\/span>&#8221; and press enter.<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">This is to copy everything including folders from ObjectStore to the folder <strong>messengercontent<\/strong> that you have created previously.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Exit the Command Prompt by typing &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">exit<\/span>&#8221; and press enter.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Navigate to the your c: drive on your computer and you should be able to locate messengercontent folder.\u00a0 Copy this folder into a thumb-drive.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">On the computer that you want to transfer the emoticons<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Insert the thumb-drive that you had previously stored &#8220;messengercontent&#8221; folder.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong> Check the drive number (might be E:\\ or F:\\).<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Go to Command Prompt<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Check Step 2 of the above if you are not sure how to go to Command Prompt<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>At the command prompt, type &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">cd\\c:\\users\\&lt;your profile name&gt;\\local settings\\microsoft\\messenger\\&lt;your Windows Live ID&gt;\\objectstore<\/span>&#8221; and press enter.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Type in this command &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">xcopy\/s &lt;Your thumb-drive number&gt;:\\messengercontent\\*.*<\/span> &#8221; and press enter<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Note that &lt;your thumb drive number&gt; might be drive E or F.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808080;\">This step is to copy everything from the folder messengercontent to the current location.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Exit Command Prompt by typing &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">exit<\/span>&#8221; and press enter<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Run Windows Live Messenger<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Congrats! You have transferred the emoticons successfully.
