Digg was sold at a very low price of USD500,000 recently. It has now been revamped and returned as Digg v1. And now, the basic requirement to use it is to have a Facebook account. Although this is temporary countermeasure, many people are already voicing out their disapproval.<\/p>\n

Before we jump the gun to question them on the need to use Facebook login, here is their answer on their FAQ.<\/p>\n

Why do I have to login with Facebook to Digg a story, save a story to my Reading List, or Submit a story?<\/strong><\/div>\n

When we asked users which problems cropped up repeatedly on Digg, the most common complaint was about spam cluttering up the homepage. Using Facebook for account registration is a short-term solution that will seriously cut down on spam, while we take our time to develop more robust spam-filter technology. We know this isn\u2019t ideal, so rest assured: we are working towards a more lasting solution.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

So, I hope that they will rely less (make it an option) on Facebook. I don’t want my Facebook timeline to fill with unnecessary information. If you notice, the whole look of Digg is fresher and modern. Digg logo is now in black color. Everything looks clean. In just six weeks, they have revamped the whole site.<\/p>\n
