No matter how fast the action is, the new XQD S series can record up to 108[3] frames in \u0012AW format in continuous shooting mode, ensuring that photographers will never miss a single moment. This allows photographers to shoot a 100m sprint from start to end in a single, sustained burst of RAW imageskat a shooting speed of 10 frames per second.

Surpassing the theoretical maximum speed of existing CompactFlash devices, the industry leading XQD S Series reduces transfer times by 30%1 when compared with the fastest CF cards and shortens it by more than 30%1 when measured against conventional CF cards. This makes the S Series perfect for photo enthusiasts and professional sports photographers who demand the very best when it comes to taking their best shot, while at the same time saving them precious time when backing up large amounts of photo data to their PCs. Also, a new device driver for Thunderbolt-compatible devices will be available for download from August 2012 and will allow users to transfer files to their Macintosh computer systems at even quicker speeds when used with a compatible card reader.

The card’s high capacity of 64GB makes XQD S Series ideal for storing large volumes of data-heavy RAW files, perfect for sports photographers who may be triggering the camera’s shutter remotely and cannot conveniently change media cards.

“Sony is proud to be the first producer of XQD memory cards and the launch of the XQD S Series proves our dedication to bringing technological innovations to our customers.” said Takemura Takayuki, Deputy Director, Sony Electronics Asia Pacific – Consumer Business Group, Recording Media & Energy. “With its improved lightning-fast transfer speeds of up to 168 MB/s, it allows photographers to rest assured that they are getting the most out of their high-end DSLRs with both photographic quantity and quality.”

From August, XQD S Series users can also download a free new version of File Rescue (Ver 3.2) software by Sony for the recovery of accidentally-deleted photos and`videos. This advanced and easy-to-use utility that supports the latest file formats of AVCHD and 3D[4] has recently expanded its capabilities to support RAW3 and MOV files. File Rescue software is also available for XQD H Series users.

Available in 32GB and 64GB variants, the XQD S Series memory card will be available from selected Sony authorised dealers from July 2012.
