Singapore, 25 November 2011<\/strong> – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) today unveiled the host of TGIS (Thank Goodness It\u2019s SingTel)<\/em>, an exciting new weekly lifestyle series on YouTube that will showcase the latest in consumer technologies, as well as local news and events.<\/p>\n

With her bubbly personality and on-screen charisma, 27-year old blogger, Joanne-Marie Sim edged-out more than 350 other hopefuls in SingTel\u2019s Casting Call contest to clinch a $10,000 cash prize and a $10,000 contract.<\/p>\n

The month-long contest was conducted via SingTel\u2019s Facebook page (www.facebook.com\/singtel<\/a>) and attracted keen interest from the online community, with almost 1 million hits from over 50 countries worldwide.\u00a0 Contestants were required to submit a creative video and photos of themselves.\u00a0 The entries were assessed by SingTel executives and well-known bloggers. In the final round, Joanne and the top 14 contestants appeared before a panel of local celebrities: Nadya Hutagalung, Hossan Leong and Tracy Phillips.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the exposure she\u2019ll receive through TGIS<\/em>, we believe Joanne-Marie is set to be Singapore\u2019s next social media star,\u201d said Miguel Bernas, SingTel\u2019s Director of Digital Marketing.\u00a0 \u201cTGIS<\/em> aims to give a fresh perspective on the latest technologies and gadgets, and how they can enhance our everyday lives.\u00a0 We seek to offer our Facebook fans with content that is engaging, useful, and highly entertaining.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joanne\u2013Marie said: \u201cTGIS<\/em> is going to be one of the biggest adventures of my life.\u00a0 I\u2019m here to entertain, inspire, and hopefully get everyone hooked to the programme.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to bring loads of fun and good humour to the show so that Singaporeans will get excited about the latest technologies and the local entertainment scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
