Singapore, 27 July, 2011<\/strong> \u2013 Back for its 9th<\/sup> run this year, the Singapore leg of the Canon PhotoMarathon Asia will be held on 10 September 2011. With the number of photo enthusiasts increasing each year, Canon Singapore is determined to break last year\u2019s participation record of 1704 competitors with a target of 2000 entries this year, making it the largest photo competition held in Singapore[1]<\/a>. Winners of this year\u2019s competition will have the opportunity to participate in an 8-day all expenses paid photo clinic in Tasmania, Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Canon PhotoMarathon has become an annual highlight for the photographic community in Singapore. With the contest entering its ninth year, the PhotoMarathon shows no signs of slowing down with more contestants joining us every year,\u201d said Andrew Koh, Senior Director and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging and Information Products Division of Canon Singapore. \u201cCanon is proud to have played an important role in nurturing the Singaporean photographic community, by providing shutterbugs with a platform to stretch their photographic skills to another level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with Singapore, other Canon offices in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam will also be participating in Canon PhotoMarathon Asia.<\/p>\n

How to Get Started<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unique to the Canon PhotoMarathon is the need to create images according to three assigned themes released sequentially throughout the day. Participants have a few hours to submit their best interpretation of the assigned theme before the next theme is released. Kicking off at 9am, the PhotoMarathon is expected to last nine hours, with the winners announced at the end of the day.<\/p>\n

There are two distinct categories \u2013 Student and Open \u2013 which cater to all shutterbugs at any age group.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s destination is Tasmania, Australia, where they will spend 8 days surrounding themselves with the majestic and scenic sights of the outback. With its pristine nature and vast wildlife, blended with a diverse mix of flora and fauna, this will certainly be every photographer\u2019s dream come true.<\/p>\n

Coaching them on this photo clinic is professional photographer Triston Yeo, otherwise dubbed as one of the \u201cBest Photographers of the Decade\u201d by Asian Geographic magazine.<\/p>\n
