NTT DoCoMo demonstrated coupon purchase using NFC embedded onto the phone. This service is available in Japan and Korea. Watch this video on how it works.<\/p>\n

The NFC embedded on your phone basically acts as an e-Wallet. First, you select which coupon you wanted. Next, go to the restaurant and use this coupon via NFC.<\/p>\n

Once your coupon is recognized, it will show you the discount. And then, there will be a few choice of payment for that coupon.<\/p>\n

I doubt Singapore will get this soon as the adoption of NFC is almost zero. Currently, a few phone manufacturers has embedded NFC into their handsets.<\/p>\n

So, I guess it will be a few years before we see it commonly in Singapore.
