I periodically got updates from NTT DoCoMo (since I met up with them during 2010 CommunicAsia) and while the news says that recovery is very much in progress, when I looked at NTT DoCoMo’s latest report (4th April), it seems that there are work to be done.<\/p>\n

Fukushima is totally not accessible based on the report. However, it states that it is based on 3G network and some base stations have multiple network.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If based on the graph shown below, the situation is definitely in control and getting better.<\/p>\n

Some statistics on the effort by NTT DoCoMo to help after the disaster.<\/p>\n

Assistance in Areas Without Mobile Phone Reception<\/p>\n

As of 1:00 p.m. on April 4 (JST), DOCOMO was taking the following measures to provide telecommunication access:<\/p>\n

– Loan of satellite mobile phones (890 handsets)
\n– Loan of mobile phones (1,893 handsets)
\n– Loan of tablet devices (297 devices)
\n– Deployment of mobile base station vehicles (30 vehicles)
\n– Deployment of mobile power-supply vehicles (30 vehicles)
\n– Deployment of mobile power generators (400 generators)
\n– Installation of free mobile-phone charging stations (320 locations)<\/p>\n

Disaster Message Board Service<\/p>\n

Immediately after the earthquake, DOCOMO started providing the Disaster Message Board service, which had been accessed approx. 3,893,888 times as of 12:00 a.m. on April 4 (JST).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
