Singapore, 4 March 2011 <\/strong> \u2013 Canon Singapore today announces the opening of a new training facility, the Canon Imaging Academy (CIA). The launch of the academy a significant milestone in Canon\u2019s ongoing efforts to engage, educate and enrich the imaging experiences of users and to nurture a community of people passionate in photography, videography and other aspects of imaging. To provide an exciting and holistic programme for photography enthusiasts, the CIA has planned over 70 photography courses, 20 local outings, 10 overseas trips, and free product trainings which will engage a target of 15,000 shutterbugs this year.<\/p>\n \u201cAt Canon, we have further expanded on our vision of driving a rich and vibrant photography scene in Singapore by instituting the CIA, which is dedicated to providing an avenue for avid photographers and videographers to develop their capabilities,\u201d said Andrew Koh, Senior Director and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging & Information Products Division at Canon Singapore. \u201cWith more advanced and user-friendly cameras and imaging devices becoming more accessible to consumers here, we recognise the opportunity to inspire the creative minds of Singaporeans. The launch of the Academy is testament to our commitment e towards building a creative society.\u201d<\/p>\n The CIA will focus on developing new curricula, courses, and events that will enhance the imaging experience of programme participants. Courses planned for 2011 include basic photography, intermediate photography, strobist, studio lighting, creative photography and editing with DPP courses. The CIA will also introduce videography courses in 2011 to meet the increasing demand of enthusiasts who enjoy creating movies using Canon\u2019s LEGRIA camcorders. For those who prefer a greater emphasis on hands-on experience, the CIA will also offer photography outings and overseas photo clinics. Each of the courses is designed to suit the varying skill-levels of participants from beginners to intermediate.<\/p>\n In addition to Canon\u2019s own trainers, the CIA will also feature a group of dedicated trainers including award-winning photographers such as Triston Yeo, Alex Siew and Joseph Goh.<\/p>\n The CIA is part of the expansion and restructuring of Canon\u2019s current facility, the Canon Digital Lab. The Canon Digital Lab was launched in 2004 and has benefited more than 150,000 people to date.
