I had a chance to take a close look at Sony’s first 3D handycam. It was huge and I am sure it will make heads turn because of the 2 “eyes” looking at you. Other than this 3D handycam, there are other innovations like the HDR-PJ50 with a 220GB Hard Disk Drive, HDR-PJ30 with 32GB of flash memory, and HDR-PJ10 with 16GB of flash memory that has a built in projector.<\/p>\n

My first thought about the 3D handycam is that it has a large body. Not the average handycam that you will keep in your handbag or small pouches. Of course, that is the price you have to pay for you to be able to make 3D video. We were given a demo on the quality of the 3D effect and I must say that I am impressed.<\/p>\n

That is me with camera in the picture. You will of course need a 3D TV and 3D glasses in order to view the 3D content. The only competitor that I can think of right now is the Panasonic 3D video cam. However, they are of different class.<\/p>\n

Sony Handycam HDR-TD10 is built from scratch as a 3D Handycam whereas Panasonic 3D video cam is just an add on to a normal HD camera. Just take a look at the huge lens from Sony TD10, you will know that Sony meant business.<\/p>\n

And it has an extended zoom of 17x (12x optical).<\/p>\n

As I mentioned earlier, it is not a small Handycam. Here are some pictures of it.<\/p>\n

It has a nice large touchscreen that can display 3D (without the glasses) too.<\/p>\n
