January 20, 2011<\/strong> \u2013<\/strong> GlobalSign, one of the longest established Certification Authorities (CA) and specialists in Digital Certificate security, today announced the opening of its regional office for Southeast Asia in Singapore, as well as the launch of an English-language website dedicated to serving customers here and across the neighbouring markets \u2013 www.globalsign.com.sg<\/a>, enabling enterprises and channel partners to easily and speedily acquire and renew Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates and other authentication solutions online.<\/p>\n

GlobalSign was established over 10 years ago as one of the world\u2019s first public Certification Authorities and SSL providers, and was acquired by the GMO Internet Inc<\/a> group of companies in October 2006 as a wholly-owned subsidiary.<\/p>\n

Currently the fourth largest SSL certificates issuer and the fastest-growing worldwide, the Singapore office opening and website launch are part of GlobalSign\u2019s strategic expansion plan, following the recent launches of local websites in Australia, Canada, France, and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

The new regional office and local website will help fuel GlobalSign\u2019s expansion into Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific region outside Japan, while complementing existing regional operations across North America, Europe, China and Australia.<\/p>\n

GlobalSign\u2019s Asia Pacific customers include the Bank of Korea (BOK), China Minsheng Bank, EVA Airways, Hutchison Whampoa Limited, Lenovo, Panasonic, and Samsung. Its Singapore customer base spans multiple verticals across both the public and private sectors, and includes HP, National University of Singapore (NUS), and the Singapore Exchange (SGX).<\/p>\n

The Singapore website offers direct online purchase of GlobalSign\u2019s comprehensive range of SSL certificates quoted in local currency for encrypting and authenticating websites, logins, online transactions and e-mail, covering fast issuance Domain Validation, traditional Organization Validation and Extended Validated (EV) SSL Certificates.<\/p>\n

According to a Akamai-sponsored study conducted by IDC Asia\/Pacific in late 2010 with 423 organizations across Asia Pacific, the proportion of Web applications delivered over the cloud will surge by 40 per cent over the next 12 months and will drive IT managers to further improve the performance of their Web infrastructures. Over 22 per cent cited security as their top concern as more data-sensitive applications are made available online. \u00a0It is vital that enterprises put in place a secure IT infrastructure to support the shift towards working in the cloud.<\/p>\n
