Finally, got to meet up with Viewsonic ViewPad 7, the 7-inch Android Tablet. I have quite high hope for it as it sports a decent specs. However, when I played with it, I find that it is not as responsive as Samsung Galaxy Tab and a fingerprint magnet.<\/p>\n

When I first read about Viewsonic Viewpad 7, I was thinking that it could be a competitor with Samsung Galaxy Tab. However, when I played with it, I am less forgiving.<\/p>\n

The tablet itself is a fingerprint magnet. Look at the back of this ViewPad 7.<\/p>\n

The front is quite standard with a bezel around it for the ease of holding it without touching the touchscreen.<\/p>\n

According to Viewsonic, it has a 800Mhz Snapdragon processor and running on Froyo (Android 2.2). When I searched ago the Internet, it seems that it has a 600 MHz processor. I think I was given the wrong information.<\/p>\n

When I tried to scroll the pages, I could feel that it is not snappy. There seems to be a lag.<\/p>\n

And the camera is 3 MegaPixels and with a screen resolution of 800X600. It has quite the standard stuff on a tablet nowadays. Front and rear facing camera, 3G and WiFi. The whole experience feels that it is just an Android phone with a bigger screen. Here is a picture of it with HTC HD2 (also a 800×600 resolution screen at 4.3-inch).<\/p>\n

Overall, it might boil down to price factor when competing with other brands. Based on my understanding, it will retail at 399 Euro.<\/p>\n

BTW, Viewsonic also has a 10 inch tablet but it was not at the booth when I was there. It sports a 1 GHz Intel processor and dual boot. It has Windows 7 and Android 2.2. That, to me, is really a blessing. Imagine, if you want heavy processing work, you can switch to Windows 7 and if you are just doing light stuff, you can switch to Android 2.2. I guess the trade off is the battery life. BTW, it will retail at 529 Euro (or 599 Euro?).
