After watching through the video on Palm Presentation during CES, I wonder if they have come up with such a device (Pre) too late.<\/p>\n<p>For those who may not know, Palm had announced their latest Gadget during CES. It is the Palm Pre. A Multi-touch device with qwerty keyboard. Much emphasis is on the WebOS and the ease of using it. After going through the video presentation, I seriously think that there is nothing &#8220;new&#8221; on this handset. All the &#8220;new&#8221; that they described are already incorporated into either the iPhone, Blackberry and those Windows Mobile devices. OK, to be fair. Except for the induction charging (which is NOT new), TouchStone, that they have incorporated.<\/p>\n<p>I am surprised that they just packed a 3 MegaPixels camera onto their latest model. I don&#8217;t think there is a front face camera and video conferencing may be out.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the specs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High-speed wireless (EV-DO Rev. A or HSDPA, depending on version)<\/li>\n<li>802.11b \/ g WiFi<\/li>\n<li>Integrated GPS<\/li>\n<li>3.1-inch 24-bit color 480 x 320 display<\/li>\n<li>Dedicated gesture area below display<\/li>\n<li>Slide-out portrait QWERTY keyboard<\/li>\n<li>Exchange email support in addition to POP and IMAP<\/li>\n<li>IM, MMS, and SMS messaging<\/li>\n<li>High-performance browser<\/li>\n<li>3-megapixel camera with LED flash and &#8220;extended depth of field&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>3.5mm headphone jack<\/li>\n<li>Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with A2DP<\/li>\n<li>8GB of internal storage<\/li>\n<li>USB mass storage mode<\/li>\n<li>MicroUSB connectivity with USB 2.0<\/li>\n<li>Proximity sensor for detecting when phone is near face<\/li>\n<li>Light sensor to automatically dim display<\/li>\n<li>Ringer mute switch<\/li>\n<li>Removable rechargeable battery<\/li>\n<li>59.57 x 100.53 x 16.95mm closed<\/li>\n<li>4.76 ounces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What I see from the video is that Palm is trying to entice every development to create software for this Palm Pre.
