Nokia Singapore invited a few of us to their office to showcase the Nokia N8. For some of the bloggers who had been to Nokia Connection a few months ago, they have already seen the device. However, this preview allow us to touch and play with it and Nokia has arranged 2 product managers around to answer our queries.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The moment I held the device, it fitted quite nicely to my hand. Although I must say it is on the heavier side of some touchscreen models, it has the specs that literally blows you away. It has a 12-MegaPixels camera with F2.8 Carl Zeiss, Xenon Flash, video capture at 720p and it runs on the latest Symbian ^3 OS.<\/p>\n

Here is the look of the back of the Nokia N8.<\/p>\n

As mentioned, it has a powerful camera and flash unit. Here is a close up.<\/p>\n

The body of this Nokia N8 is in Aluminum and only the top and bottom part is plastic. BTW, it has a built in battery.<\/p>\n

On the side, it has the dedicated camera button and the volume up\/down button and another slider button that is used to trigger the lock screen function. After checking with Gary (Nokia Product Manager), I was told that the screen saver (it is actually a clock face) will not shut off and will not consume a lot of power. It is one of the unique feature of this Nokia N8. Nevertheless, you can change the setting to disable the screen saver. I did not explore that.<\/p>\n

On the other side, it has the slot for the SIM card and MicroSD card and a MicroUSB port for charging and data transfer.<\/p>\n

I did a small hardware tour for Nokia N8.<\/p>\n

While trying out the phone, I did a few more videos on them.<\/p>\n

Walkthrough of some phone features\/functions (not much as the time is limited)<\/p>\n

I also did a video on the Camera. Nokia N8 has multiple face detection and also built in photo editor to perform simple editing.<\/p>\n

We were shown a few slides and I was quite surprised when the slide showed that Nokia has a presence of 43.5% market share globally when compared to the rest of the OS.<\/p>\n

Nokia has also been working with a few local companies with apps for them. Examples are Makansutra and L.S. Magazine.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Next, the highlight of the evening is the HDMI output to a big TV set.<\/p>\n

Finally, some pictures taken by Nokia N8 was displayed on the big TV screen via HDMI output.<\/p>\n

The video output from the Nokia N8 to the TV via HDMI is very smooth and I could not detect the slightest delay. Here is the video of the HMDI output.

The Nokia N8 will be launched in Singapore in September. There will be a few colors to choose from.<\/p>\n

And from Nokia Singapore, The Orange color will not be available when Nokia N8 is launched initally. However it will be available later on.<\/p>\n
