I managed to get hold of the Motorola BackFlip 2 days after its official launch<\/a>. The BackFlip, as the name implies, has a unique (yet simple) way to flip over the Qwerty keyboard. With this design, it is able to utilize more space on the keyboard (as compared to the DEXT<\/a>).<\/p>\n

At first glance, it resembles the DEXT. However, when you flipped out the keyboard, you will notice the differences.<\/p>\n

As you can see, the BackFlip do not have any mechanism to slide in the keyboard. Instead, it flips backward and here is what you will see.<\/p>\n

One of the unique function on this phone is the trackpad which Motorola calls it the BackTrack.<\/p>\n

It does not behave like a trackpad on laptop. It does not have any cursor that\u00a0 you can move about. Instead, it behaves like a tab, jumping from selection to selection when you move it. I will show you how this thing work in my next post.<\/p>\n

There is a 3.5mm jack on top of the phone.<\/p>\n

At the side, it has the camera button, the MicroUSB port and the volume buttons.<\/p>\n

When you plug in the MicroUSB into the port, a green light will light up.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The camera lens and flash is also on the keyboard. This is because as you flip the keyboard over, the keyboard acts as the back of the phone and thus the camera lens and flash is on it. Personally, I don’t like the position as it will be easily dirty by your fingerprints when you use the keyboard.<\/p>\n

The back is held by a thin aluminum cover. It houses the battery, MicroSD card and the SIM card.<\/p>\n
