Co-Driver Notifies You Red Zones for Police Speed Laser Camera (PSLC)

If you are a driver in Singapore, you have to face many speed cameras or red light cameras around the island. If you are not careful, you might end up getting a fine.

Although there are apps that will cue you when you are near these traps, this Co-Driver app includes the red zones for Police Speed Laser Camera (PSLC). And this is possible with the partnership with the Singapore Traffic Police.

Here are the audio alerts you can set on the app: –

  • Red Light Camera
  • Fixed Speed Camera
  • Mobile Speed Camera
  • Police Speed Laser Camera
  • Average Speed Camera

BTW, The Co-Driver is an add-on in the Motorist app. Just download the Motorist app and you can see the Co-Driver option (Beta).

Traffic Police and Motorist Announce Strategic Partnership to Foster Safer Roads in Singapore

Traffic Police to tap on Motorist mobile app to promote road safety and reduce careless acts

SINGAPORE, 8th June 2020 – Motorist, Singapore’s leading automotive platform, today announced a strategic partnership with the Traffic Police to cultivate a safer driving culture in Singapore.

The partnership will see the Traffic Police tap on Motorist’s mobile app as they look to encourage safer driving by discouraging reckless driving acts such as speeding. Together, they have developed a new audio integration feature called Co-Driver, which is set to be launched today.

This feature, found exclusively in the Motorist App, will incorporate data from the Traffic Police on the locations of speed and red-light cameras. By simply activating Co-Driver on the Motorist App, drivers will receive real time audio alerts on these cameras, as well as reminders to drive safer and more courteously.

While there are a number of other apps that provide audio cues on red-light and traffic cameras, Co-Driver is the only one that includes red zones for Police Speed Laser Camera (PSLC). Through Co-Driver, Motorist aims to encourage road users to drive more responsibly and reduce the number of accidents due to speeding.

“According to the latest Annual Road Traffic Situation report from Singapore Police Force (SPF), 2019 saw more drivers speeding and running red lights,” Damian Sia, CEO and Founder, Motorist, commented. “We want to discourage such unsafe and irresponsible acts in Singapore, and hope that such joint initiatives with the Traffic Police will help engage the community, and foster a safer and gracious driving community.”

“We are excited to partner with Motorist as we continue on our journey to make Singapore’s paths and roads safer for all. Speeding and red-light running are serious traffic violations that could cause injuries or deaths. Audio alerts at locations preceding enforcement zones can therefore, help shape road behaviours of motorists,” said Commander Traffic Police, SAC Gerald Lim. “With Co-Driver, motorists will be alerted to locations of traffic enforcement cameras and be reminded to keep within speed limits and drive more responsibly. This initiative complements the current suite of traffic enforcement cameras, which will help shape motorists’ behaviour, so that unsafe and irresponsible driving can be prevented.”

“As a driver myself, Singapore’s driving culture can be improved. We should remember that everyone just wants to reach their destination safely and quickly—and the duty lies with each one of us to act responsibly,” continued Damian. “We’re excited to take this first step with the Traffic Police, and look forward to further initiatives with them to encourage a safer driving culture in the country—a win-win result for all.”
