PS Invaders – Largest Indoor Drone Festival (Video)

If you have visited Plaza Singapura over the last weekend, you might already have seen the 12-meter high (4 floors) indoor drone cage. This is PS Invaders, the largest Indoor Drome Festival organized by Plaza Singapura in partnership with Science Centre Singapore.

The public can take this opportunity to take part in some of the drone activities from 23rd November to 16th December 2018.

For some of the drones, they are able to transform into vehicular devices that can travel through air, land and water. You can check out my video below.

One of the activities at PS is the “Code and Fly“. You can program your drone with simple commands, after which you can activate the drone to follow them.

Another activity that is fun is taking a selfie with the drone. You will need to program it to hover around your height and get someone to take a nice picture of you.

As the drones are very small, they are constantly in need to be charged (one battery lasts about 10 minutes).

Therefore, it is interesting to see the drone “hangar” that is filled with batteries, cables, and other accessories.

Here is a short video that I made.

If you are going to visit, make sure that you go there at the right time. Check out the details.

The centrepiece of PS Invaders is a 12-metre high (approximately four floors) drones cage that will greet shoppers at the mall’s main atrium at level 1. Shoppers can take part in exhilarating drone-flying activities and aerial shows, including the Time Attack Challenge, a drone obstacles race, and PS Triathlon Carnival, the first of its kind in Singapore featuring special drones that are able to transform into vehicular devices that can travel through air, land and water.

Ms June Ang, General Manager of Plaza Singapura, said: “We are excited to collaborate with Science Centre Singapore to present a large-scale and immersive drone experience to our shoppers this Christmas. Whether you’re a seasoned drone enthusiast or a child looking to test-fly a drone for the first time, Plaza Singapura has something for everyone in the family.”

“We are always looking for ways to spark interest and creativity in science and technology through imaginative and engaging experiences for Singaporeans. We are thrilled to partner Plaza Singapura once again to bring PSInvaders, an exciting and educational event to the public. From designing and coding, to learning the wonders of drone technology, PS Invaders is a hands-on immersive experience for all,” said Associate Professor Lim Tit Meng, Chief Executive of Science Centre Singapore.

A visually-enchanting highlight is a drones Christmas medley that will run every evening at 8 pm. Like reindeers prancing in the sky, drones are pre-choreographed autonomously with lights making the entire show simply magical.

PS Invaders will also feature free drone workshops and hands-on activities around the drone cage throughout the day. From building and crafting your very own drone, to learning how to code and fly one using simulators, PSInvaders’ variety of workshops and hands-on activities are suitable for kids and adults across all ages and experience levels. Shoppers can also look out for little drone buskers, with daily “fly-by” surprises to sweeten their Christmas shopping experience.

From 6th December to 2nd January 2018, Plaza Singapura will also host a variety of festive markets and a dazzling Christmas light-up that is guaranteed to make every shoppers’ Christmas merry and bright.
